With so much work at hand and the fast-paced demand of the deadlines, the only chance for survival is sheer hard work. However, where are our efforts channeled to? Of late, I've been listening to some modern pop-rock songs on my mp3 player. A moment ago, when I dug up video game scores that I first heard about a decade ago, I noticed the contrasting loudness between those old school tunes and that of today's pop-rock music.

Music in the past were not as heavy, and every sound that is present in a piece invokes a certain idea or imagination. With all the loud "music" being popularised today, I feel sad that the true valuation of sound has been compromised.

Felt a great sense of relief after I was done with my lab report. Hehe. My lab session started at 9 this morning, and during the lesson, we were told to submit the report by 5 o'clock. Spent almost the entire afternoon doing it. Felt very dreadful during the writing, but thanks to references handed to me by some kind soul, I managed to complete it with some time to spare before the the time was due.

Alright, one down, another set of challenges to take on. But at least I have a bit of breathing space for today. =)

I hate it when people talk loudly during lectures, shake their legs or stroll in slowly into the theatre long after the lesson has started. I find those actions very irritating and distracting.

If they want to talk, fine. Go to the cafeteria and talk. If they want to shake their legs, they should go for a dance. If they want to stroll in after the lesson has strated, they should do so quietly from the back. If not,they should just get lost.

Fans could get really crazy over their pop idols. It's amazing how crowds of young students could camp at a spot in a shopping centre for hours before their celebrity idols' evening arrival. A hundred over fans were already seated in front of the stage before I arrived at about 3pm to set up my shooting equipments. Hmmm. The impact of the mass media...

IT Fair at Suntec

What was supposed to be a good bargain session over the weekend turned out to be a major fly-trap. Ken-O and I anticipated it, but decided to go for the fair despite knowing what we were in for - extremely overwhelming crowds.

The whole thing turned out to be a crowd-squeezing experience. You get yourself into the crowd to work your way out of the crowd.

Thankful - Out of the Urban Crowds.

Anime Festival Asia 2008

Was busy with a video project over the entire week. By the time I completed it, I was left with the evening to catch the last of the Anime Festival Asia 2008.

When I arrived at Suntec, it was already 5:17pm. Went up to level 3 to get the tickets. $5. Fortunately, the queue was short, because by then those that wanted to get the tickets were already in, I guess.

Upon entering the event gate, there were people in costumes posing at the entrances. Soon after upon entering, the sight of a moving “Gundam Exia” caught my eye. Many were crowding around it, taking photos of it, taking with it. After a while, I realized that it was trying to make it’s way out. Apparently, the cosplay competition was over.

Not to forget, there was also a human sized Gundam Exia figure footsteps from the entrance. Shot a few photos before going into the main hall, in hopes to photograph some of my favourite Season 1-3 MMPR Zords (Megazord, Dragonzord, Titanus, Red Dragon Thunderzord, Thundermegazord, White Tigerzord, Megatigerzord, Tor, The Shogun Zords, Shogun Megazord, Shogun Megafalconzord). To my disappointment, I found none. All that were displayed were the more recent Zords, which in my opinion, have never rivaled the looks of those from Season 1-3.

I decided to just go around, photographing figurines of other iconic action heroes that were on display. There rows after rows of shelves, with numerous figurines spaced out neatly on different deck levels in each shelve. The shelves were each covered with a glass window.

At about 6 plus, a local band by the name of “QUIS”, performed songs from notable singers and animations. Many gathered in front of the stage to watch. After they ended their performance, the crowds waited for J-Pop vocalist May Nakabayashi’s outside-Japan debut performance. At about 7:20pm, the performance started. May Nakabayashi (May’n) performed several songs that she voiced in “Macross Frontier”. The performance went on until about 8pm, before her autograph session began.

Local band “QUIS” performed their cover version of L’Arc~en~Ciel’s “Driver’s High”.

J-Pop vocalist May’n kick-starts her live international debut with “Welcome To My FanClub's Night!”

The event was supposed to end at 9pm, but at 8pm, the staff were already packing the display items from the shelves. Took a quick shot of whatever that was left.

To photograph every figurine in the event would have required me to be down earlier. For the two-days event, I was only present for ¼ of the last day. Got to plan my time such that I can be down right from Day 1 in future.

Hope to be able to photograph the Season 1-3 MMPR characters and zords in future AFAs.

Found AFA08 to be a really great experience. It’s the first in Singapore. AFA was a viewing gallery, a bazaar, and a talent showcase for costumes, acting (cosplay), and musical performances.

Looking forward to AFA09.

BAKUC '06 Viewing

That's how the day has been. Went to Suntec to view the competition pieces for the '2006 BAKUC Singapore' plastic modelling competion. Met up with The Greasemonkey in the late afternoon, and he gave me a coffee treat at nydc.

Next, we headed back for a feast back at home. All these made my day.

It has been a day of resting, tidying up my desk, and getting in tuned with music by Yoko Kanno and Dido.

In the evening, our family had dinner at Holland V. Next, my siblings and I went shopping before having supper.

"WHAT'S THIS"?

On 6th-June, I was spending my afternoon break time with Kenny, Khai. and Hisham in Canteen 3. While Hisham was chewing up a piece of roti prata, a drop of 'thick brown liquid' landed on my left hand.

"WHAT'S THIS?" I exclaimed.

We looked at Hisham. We guessed that he was responsible for attempting to splash my face with his roti prata curry gravy. However, Hisham appeared to be too engrossed eating, and when all of us gave him a 'Why did you splash curry gravy on MJ' kind of stare, he looked puzzled.

At the next moment, we looked up at the ceiling and saw a bird. What the heck!
