Hmm.

"There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart."

Someone posted this onfacebook. I wonder: what should we let our hearts be caught with? Things of genuine meaning? Or images that are disguised as innocent on the outside, but yet hold a dark and corruptive meaning within?

Raged Against The Machine

The classic money-eater at Level 1 of Block E3A in NUS. Someone probably flared up over a lost dollar before raging against this machine...

Scalar versus Vector

In the university, the demands of our work are enormous. Lab reports. Tutorials. Online Assignments. Projects. Test preparations. With so much work at hand and the fast-paced demand of the deadlines, the only chance for survival is sheer hard work. However, where are our efforts channeled to? Are we moving with velocity towards what we are looking for in life? Or are we merely moving with speed, not knowing where we are heading?

On the way.

The Apple Experience

I love my Apple (with a huge smile on my face). It's so user-friendly, smooth running and aesthetically appealing. Opening lecture slides have never been a joy until this machine came into my life. Many thanks to Dad (and Bro for recommending it) for making it possible to let me have such a remarkable learning tool (smiles).

Now.

If I'm not studying now, what will I be doing? I can't possibly say I'm playing at this age.

The Sky Crawlers

Got burnt under the scorching sun during the airshow yesterday. Had fun shooting videos of the aerial display nonetheless.

Live in Denial No More.

I'm feeling a box of emotions now. Jealousy is a strong emotion; it can propel one to strive for things to an extent that is unrivaled by one's previous' desire.

On a random note, I feel that the kind of influences we expose ourselves to, be it the company we keep, or the media that we feed on plays a subtle yet strong role in shaping who we are.

Draining

Stirred up too much emotions. Got to take out that distraction before it takes me out.

Backwards: No-go.

Attempting to change what other people in your past think of you is as good as letting your screams go unheard. One's better off turning over a new leaf and meeting new people.

The Third Week

Noise

Of late, I've been listening to some modern pop-rock songs on my mp3 player. A moment ago, when I dug up video game scores that I first heard about a decade ago, I noticed the contrasting loudness between those old school tunes and that of today's pop-rock music.

Music in the past were not as heavy, and every sound that is present in a piece invokes a certain idea or imagination. With all the loud "music" being popularised today, I feel sad that the true valuation of sound has been compromised.

To Breathe Once Again

Felt a great sense of relief after I was done with my lab report. Hehe. My lab session started at 9 this morning, and during the lesson, we were told to submit the report by 5 o'clock. Spent almost the entire afternoon doing it. Felt very dreadful during the writing, but thanks to references handed to me by some kind soul, I managed to complete it with some time to spare before the the time was due.

Alright, one down, another set of challenges to take on. But at least I have a bit of breathing space for today. =)

20 January 2010

Annoying.

I hate it when people talk loudly during lectures, shake their legs or stroll in slowly into the theatre long after the lesson has started. I find those actions very irritating and distracting.

If they want to talk, fine. Go to the cafeteria and talk. If they want to shake their legs, they should go for a dance. If they want to stroll in after the lesson has strated, they should do so quietly from the back. If not, they should just get lost.

GET OUT!

Webpage Malfunction

Seriously, what is the point of a web page helpline when all they say is "we are looking into the matter" and absolutely NOTHING about the webpage malfunction is rectified?

It is downright frustrating and annoying. Some kind of helpline that is.

Blink.

The activity that one engages in makes the person more aware of the things related to the activity in his or her surroundings.

Jay Chou in Town before X'mas

Fans could get really crazy over their pop idols. It's amazing how crowds of young students could camp at a spot in a shopping centre for hours before their celebrity idols' evening arrival. A hundred over fans were already seated in front of the stage before I arrived at about 3pm to set up my shooting equipments. Hmmm. The impact of the mass media...

How Do We Title It?

If we were to give a name to each day by the end of each day, how will we title it? "Did Nothing" and "Meaningless" are invalid titles.

Played the spotter last night. I get tremendous satisfaction when an error is rectified. =)

The life of isolation drives me nuts. Perhaps spending time with people was not as bad as I initially made it out to be... but meeting people is challenging.
